    MUSIC DIRECTOR

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Expertise in choral directing, vocal production, and literacy in music.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Provide choral/ instrumental instruction (rehearsal) and music direction for regular Sunday worship services as well as Lenten, Holy Week, Advent, and Christmas worship services.

    Coordinate music with the Pastor as part of worship planning. The Music Director will meet with the Pastor monthly, one month in advance of planning period, to review worship and music plan and coordinate worship flow.

    Schedule rehearsals with the choir, mid-August through June, on a mutually agreed upon schedule.  This includes one weeknight rehearsal and rehearsal before worship on Sunday morning.

    Arrange for special music (soloist or instrumental music) during the summer months.

    Attend Faith and Life Committee meetings as requested to act as a creative resource.

    The Music Director is responsible for the supervision of all the music department property and will maintain this in conjunction with the Faith and Life Committee.

    The Music Director will oversee the purchase of new music and supplies and/ or the hiring of special soloists or musicians for special Sundays and holidays as the Faith and Life Committee budget allows.

    Work with the Faith and Life Committee to develop and administer the annual budget for the music program.

    Foster an energetic, creative, and friendly community spirit within the choir membership.

    Legally document copyright and ensure compliance.

    ACCOUNTABILITY:
    The Music Director will be under the general direction and supervision of the Pastor in conjunction with Session and the Faith and Life Committee.

    VACATION/ TIME OFF:  
    The music director has two weeks, (weeknight rehearsal and the corresponding Sunday) of unpaid vacation per year. After 3 years an additional week of unpaid vacation (weeknight rehearsal and corresponding Sunday) will be added. 
    High holidays such as Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday are not eligible for vacation days without direct approval of the Pastor and Faith and Life Committee.

    REMUNERATION: range
    The music director position will be a salaried position at six to 10 hours a week depending upon the liturgical season. Pay per week will be $250 (if filling in for accompanist $300) and will be disbursed every two weeks via Paycor. Automatic deposit is the preferred method of payment.
